Gipsy's Death

Tuesday, 9th December 1913

Under peculiarly tragic circumstances, the death occurred in Queen-street, Exmouth, on Saturday afternoon of a gipsy woman - Mrs. Ellen Small, wife of James Small, a gipsy encamped at Woodbury Common.

Mrs. Small, who was about 65 years of age, left the camp with her daughter to go to Exmouth, and on the way complained of feeling unwell. Whilst calling at a house in Queen-street she collapsed and fell. Dr. Hanna, who was summoned, could only pronounce life extinct.

Deceased had been treated in Exeter for heart complaint, and the Coroner has decided that no inquest is necessary.
