Petty Sessions

Friday, 16th January 1891

James Burch, travelling gipsy, of Exeter, was summoned for allowing two horses to stray on the highway at Ashwater on July 8th of last year.

The summons was not served upon the defendant until recently, as he had absconded from the Holsworthy district, and nothing was heard of him until he made his appearance in the neighbourhood of Exmouth, where he was fined for a similar offence.

Defendant did not appear yesterday. P.C. Scoon having proved the case, the Bench fined defendant 1s for each horse and costs.
