Gipsy Wedding

Tuesday, 18th September 1866

On Monday morning the nuptials between Joseph Jowle and Elizabeth Stanley were solemnised at the parish church by the Ven. Archdeacon Browne. Both parties claim 'royal blood', from being relatives of their late King, and consequently the sacred ediface was gaily attired in robes of many hues, as were also her bridesmaids.

Either party having pledged their troth 'for better for worse', the party left the church, the bells ringing forth a merry peal.

The happy pair are vendors of brushes and travel with a van, but the wedding was 'kept up' in good style at the Bristol Arms.
