Broadclyst Burial

Saturday, 27th February 1847

It will be recollected that Thomas Stanley, son of the present King of the Gipsies, and his daughter, died a few months since. He was buried in Broadclist churchyard.

By directions of the widow, a handsome tombstone was prepared by Mr. Davy, of Exeter, having inscribed upon it a long epitaph, in gilt letters, and this was fixed over the grave, on Monday last, in the presence of several gipsies, and a large concourse of people.
